HUGE NEWS! Three Apartments for Burn Survivors & Firefighters.

THANK YOU Kraus Anderson!

Kraus-Anderson and Firefighters for Healing are teaming up to support burn and trauma survivors, their families and firefighters by providing three apartment units at the new HQ Apartments in Minneapolis. These conveniently located units are just 2 blocks from Hennepin Healthcare (HCMC) and will be made available free of charge to burn and trauma survivors as well as firefighters from around the state who are receiving medical care in the Twin Cities.

Over the past five years Firefighters for Healing has worked with community partners to provide hotel accommodations for burn survivors and their families. While this is a good solution, in some long term cases, it is not a home away from home that helps aide in a patient’s recovery.

Firefighters for Healing hopes to support the community in 3 ways:

Provide accommodations for the FAMILIES/relatives of survivors traveling from a distance so they have a comfortable and familiar place to stay

Provide accommodations for SURVIVORS so they are close to the outpatient services to support their transition into their new normal level of activity/mobility before heading home

Provide accommodations for any FIREFIGHTER from anywhere in the state of Minnesota who is receiving care in the Twin Cities for any reason

Firefighters for Healing ( was established in 2010 after Minneapolis firefighter Jake LaFerriere suffered 3rd and 4th degree burns in a backdraft explosion while battling a house fire. It was at the hospital while being treated for his burns that Jake met young children who were undergoing the same painful treatment for their injuries. He wanted to do more. Jake founded Firefighters for Healing a 501(c)(3) non-profit with the mission of supporting children and burn survivors.

All are welcome to join us

In a world where there is so much negativity and heartache, we often try and look for anything and everything to fill the void and bring us happiness. One way to find happiness is to to attend a fun, energetic and lively country concert.

Buz’n 102.9 brings the artists up close and personal. They have graciously embraced Firefighters for Healing as one of their community partners and help us tell more and more people just what we do and how we have a mission to bring strength, love and support to burn and trauma survivors.

Welles Inspires Us

Welles Inspires Us

From the book Man in the Red Bandana by Tom Rinaldi: They came to the towers that morning with their birthmarks and degress, allegiances and scars, student loans and night cravings. They cam with their loves cherished and lost, fights joined and surrendered, bills paid and put off. They came from different paths, took different chances, practiced different faiths, savored different meals. They came with deals made, lines drawn, orders given, cheers shouted, ideas grapsed, fears hidden, reports filed, children birthed, time served, hopes lost, dreams fulfilled. Breaths taken. Breath held.
