Firefighters, Burn & Trauma Survivors
deserve a Healing Center
As you can imagine, if we're going to make this building a reality it's going to be in large part because of the support from each of you. We need help from builders, developers, firefighters, unions, area businesses, state and local authorities and individuals. If you want to be involved in this effort in some way, please reach out to us at firstname.lastname@example.org and let us know how you might be able to help.
To construct a Healing Center that will serve our community by supporting the burn-injured child as they adjust to their new normal; provide ‘home-away-from-home’ for their family; and house any Firefighter in the Twin Cities while they are receiving medical care of any kind.
Meeting the Need
Over the past several years our foundation has struggled to provide accommodations for burn & trauma survivors and their families. Often, when someone has suffered severe trauma or life-threatening burns from anywhere around the 5-state region, they are flown to the level one trauma centers located in Minneapolis and St. Paul. When a tragedy strikes, families often jump in the car, ambulance or helicopter without any thought about what to bring, where they will stay or how long they will be there. Unfortunately, in many cases they soon find out they will be there for weeks, if not months, and even more often they will need to return frequently.
Firefighters for Healing will support three populations:
Families: Provide ‘home away’ accommodations for the relatives of survivors so they have a comfortable place to stay when visiting loved ones at the hospital.
Survivors: A transitional facility providing survivors time to learn their “new normal” regarding activity levels and mobility before heading home.
Firefighters: Provide accommodations for any Firefighter who is receiving care in the Twin Cities for any reason.
