WHO WE ARE & HOW WE MAKE A DIFFERENCE

Firefighters For Healing is a nonprofit foundation founded by firemen who tragically experienced first hand what burn victims endure.

On July 3rd, 2010, Minneapolis firefighter, Jake Laferriere, suffered 3rd and 4th degree burns in a backdraft explosion while battling a house fire. It was at the hospital while being treated for his burns that Jake met young children who were undergoing the same painful treatment for their injuries. The event Jake refers to as "a blessing", changed his life forever. Jake founded Firefighters For Healing with the mission of supporting children and burn victims in ways insurance companies and caretakers are unable to.

MAKING A DIFFERENCE...

Through fun and creative fundraising events and with help from the community, we are able to provide support to local burn units and those that have been directly impacted by the devastation of a fire.  We work to provide the resources and financial assistance survivors need including corrective surgeries, burn camps for kids, essentials when all has been lost in a fire, community resources, emotional support and in countless other ways.

None of this is possible without the support and generosity of the community, local businesses, donors and through grants that provide resources to foundations such as ours.
