We are introduced most often to burn survivors and their families by the Burn Unit staff in the first few days or weeks after their burn trauma. We do our best to listen to the need, bring comfort and provide hope.
Our goal is to provide families of burn survivors and first responders with everything they need to heal. Here’s the impact we are having:
Most CaringBridge stories begin with the same words, "This is something I never thought I'd have to write ....". FF4H provides hope and healing for burn survivors. In addition to family support, replacement of essential items, meals, gas cards, a connection to a community who understands, assistance with therapy items, birthday gifts and more.
Our daughter lived 2,000 miles from home in Duluth. When she was injured, she was flown to the level 1 trauma center at Hennepin Healthcare in Minneapolis. We did not have a support network there until Jake and Firefighters For Healing offered us a stable home and unwavering support. They really provided unconditional love to hold us up in our time of need.
Over the last 5 years, our son Tyler has had more than 100 surgeries and procedures. We are so thankful for the energy and generosity of Jake and Firefighters For Healing. They have brought Tyler toys in the hospital to help as a distraction, invited our family to Camp RED, allowed the use of the apartmentments on multiple occasions, and provided meals and gas. This has lifted the financial strain on our family and inspired Tyler to stay positive. Thank you!
This has been such a Blessing to us! From the moment you opened the door and said, "this is your place," the tears just flowed and the Healing Began. It was a "Safe Haven" for me to always come home to! This place kept me close to my loved one and gave us the gift of Togetherness and made us feel like family. May you always know and Remember the powerful Impact this Legacy called, "Firefighters for Healing," has made on our life - it's Priceless! Although we didn't get to bring our loved one home with us, this "Safe Haven" allowed us to bring our Family Together to walked our loved one to His Eternal Home - Heaven.
