Challenge Coins at Red Tie Gala 2017

At the 2017 Red Tie Gala, we gifted each guest. The note read:

Please accept this Challenge Coin. The origin of the Challenge Coin dates back to the early Roman Empire when soldiers were rewarded and presented with coins to recognize their achievements. In the modern world, Challenge Coins were first used by the military during World War I and continue to be used today by Fraternities, Fire Departments and Police Departments.

Challenge Coins are usually given to members upon joining an organization, as an award or to commemorate a special occasion. Traditionally, the presentation of a coin is passed during a handshake. Firefighters often use Challenge Coins to recognize their professional commitment to saving lives.

Following in this tradition, Firefighters for Healing has created this Challenge Coin to recognize YOU, our loyal donors & volunteers who have made a significant contribution to the establishment of Camp RED and now our Burn Fund Center to empower burn survivors. Keep it in your car, on a desk, by a treadmill, in your pocket and every time you see it, know that you are impacting families every single day. Thank you for your support.
