Music Therapy 101 at Buz'n Breaking Now

A #1 radio station, a fundraiser for a great charitable organization, country music, an architecturally beautiful venue and country music artists that are sure to sell out big venues soon. What do all these things have in common? They encompass what you will find at the Buz’n Breaking Now Concert Series.

Firefighters for Healing has been fortunate and incredibly grateful to partner with the Buz’n 102.9  radio station. The concert series brought three of Nashville’s next big artists to the Twin Cities on Thursday, April 12 at The Pourhouse in Downtown Minneapolis.

The venue was incredible. It had exposed brick, great sound and old Hollywood type charm. Surprisingly, they can fit up to 700 people in this venue and the first concert series was packed with listeners and fans.

Attendees were entertained with the sound of music from Jimmie Allen, James Barker Band and Walker McGuire. Each of these artists were met with loud cheers, excitement and country-music lovers ready to hear a great showcase.

Each artist and their band played a variety of music from their known radio hits to album covers. All of the performances were huge crowd pleasers. The crowd broke out into a full sing-a-long to “When It Rains, It’s Pours” with Walker McGuire and you could see the tangible enjoyment on the entire crowd’s faces.

We had the opportunity to have a quick interview with James Barker from the James Barker Band to talk about his set and what he loves most about Minnesota. Since James is our neighbor to the North, Canada, eh, he commented on how he feels at home with the similar accents Minnesotans have.  Since we are not always praised for the glory that is the Minnesota accent, it was refreshing to know that James could very much appreciate it. He said he loves being able to travel with his band, meeting and performing for amazing fans and always collecting memorable adventures as they travel through airports (that’s for a different time - 😉). You can be sure to find new and exciting things from the James Barker Band in the near future.

Our Social Media Director put together some swag bags for the artists. We, of course, had to ask James Barker what his favorite item in the swag bag was. He gravitated towards the Firefighters for Healing snapback ballcap. He wore it for the entire night in support of FF4H and you can see it in all the night’s photos as well as in the meet-and-greet album.

Buz’n 102.9 has a fantastic group of people. They made sure the night was focused on providing their listeners with the best show, taking care of all of the artists, and showcasing their concert series at a beautiful and fun venue all while supporting a great cause.

If you couldn’t attend the first show of the Buz’n Breaking Now Concert Series, you still have two more opportunities. The next show is Wednesday, April 25 at the Pourhouse in Minneapolis with doors opening at 6:00. The second concert series show will showcase Carly Pierce, Mitchell Tenpenny and Josh Gracin. Tickets can be purchased by visiting the Buz’n website or our Firefighters for Healing Facebook page. All proceeds benefit Firefighters for Healing, so grab your friends and enjoy a fun night out while supporting a wonderful organization.
