Hero of the Month - November

Our November Hero of the Month
is Chief Jeff Leuer,
Loretto Fire Dept.

Last month at the Minnesota State Fire Chiefs Association conference in Duluth, Loretto Fire Chief Jeff Leuer was named Fire Officer of the Year in Minnesota.

Brooklyn Park Fire Chief T. John Cunningham, president of the Minnesota State Fire Chiefs Association, said Leuer was nominated by his peers based on his service and commitment to their organization and his commitment to furthering firefighters’ mission in the state.

Cunningham said. “I can attest to how dedicated to public service Jeff is, and how instrumental he has been in furthering the organization and helping firefighters. He’s done so much for the entire fire service. This honor is the highest bestowed by the organization and the sheer number of documents supporting his nomination speaks volumes.”

Leuer has been Loretto’s director of Public Works for the last 18 years and the paid on call Fire Chief for 13 of those years. Leuer has had the second-longest tenured Chief and is well respected among his peers. This small but mighty crew of 30 firefighters come from all five of the cities the department serves: Loretto, Corcoran, Greenfield, Independence, and Medina. Leuer is proud that his son has followed in his footsteps to be a firefighter.

Join us in celebrating Jeff Leuer, Loretto Fire Chief and the Minnesota Fire Officer of the Year, as our Hero of the Month. Thank you Chief for your years of commitment to the fire service, for bravery, courage and discipline. We extend thanks to your family for the sacrifices they have made over the years while you served your community.

If you know a paramedic or firefighter who goes above and beyond to serve his or her community – please nominate them for a Hero of the Month profile. We publish a new one on the first of every month and have a goal to profile firefighters from every community in Minnesota. Visit firefightersforhealing.org/heroofthemonth
